Why should apples be included in our daily diet

Apples“An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. According to nutritionist the famous phrase is very true especially because an apple a day helps you stay away from a number of diseases such as heart disease, cholesterol, colon cancer or blood pressure.

Here are some reasons why is better to include an apple in your daily diet:

– does not contain fat and help reduce the risk of various cancers;
– does not contain sodium
– contains pectin, a soluble fiber which helps lower cholesterol
– contains potassium, which helps reduce high blood pressure and stroke risk;
– contains lots of complex carbohydrates which lower  the risk of diabetes, heart disease and cancer;
– contains cellulose, an insoluble fiber that helps the body function properly and prevents colon cancer;
– contains essential nutrients such as iron, vitamin A, vitamin C, thiamin, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus,
– it has only 81 calories and the natural fibers and fructose helps maintain blood sugar levels and to better control hunger
