Reduce CelluliteCellulite is caused by hormones. It is not clear the process by which hormones get to create the orange peel aspect of the skin, but we do know that women are prone to store fat on thighs, buttocks and hips. Hormones have a negative effect on the collagen fibers surrounding the fat cells, thickening and pushing them to the surface of the skin and as a result causing an unpleasant appearance. This also affects microcirculations, so that a smaller quantity of nutrients reaches the skin causing a weakening of its elasticity and firmness. This results in a weakened skin, fat cells being pushed even more to the surface leading to a very visible cellulite.

Based on Dr. Howard Murad’s anti-cellulite diet, here are the most important “weapons” against cellulite.

Lecithin is a vital ingredient in eliminating cellulite because it repairs the connective tissue by reconstructing the cell walls and by doing so it help all the organs of the body to stay healthy and hydrated, at the highest functional level. About 2000 – 4000 mg of lecithin a day is needed which can be obtained from: eggs, oranges, tomatoes, soy products, peanuts, potatoes and spinach.

Glucosamine is the main component which helps repair the dermis and to strengthen the connective tissue throughout the body, but also stimulates collagen and elastin production. The daily need of glucosamine is around 1200 mg and since is very rarely found in food, a good option is supplements found in pharmacies.

Essential fatty acids are oils which function as lubricants of the body and provide many benefits such as lowering cholesterol, regulation of blood pressure, formation of healthy cell membranes, hormone production, proper thyroid and adrenal activity etc. Essential fatty acids can be found in: olive oil, almond oil, almonds, caju, pistachios, fish oil, sunflower and hemp seeds. The amount needed per day is about 2,2 – 4,4g Omega 3 fatty acids.

Proteins from food are synthesized in amino acids which are important elements in the production of collagen and elastin in the body. For a woman the recommended quantity of proteins is 50g per day. Foods rich in proteins are: chicken, fish, soy, peanuts, milk, eggs, green vegetables and every type of meat.

Antioxidants help us fight the free radicals which destroy our tissues and some of them even help us prevent cancer. Without a sufficient amount of daily antioxidants we would become sick very easily and even age prematurely. Some antioxidants like vitamins A, C and E have a recommended daily dose, other like those found in vegetables and fruits don’t. Antioxidants are found in cereals, red wine, green tea, nuts, milk, eggs, fruits, vegetables etc.

B vitamins and minerals help our body metabolize all of the above. There are 8 vitamins in the B category which can be found in foods like: whole grains, fish, eggs, chicken, dairy products and yeast. Mineral deficiency can lead to many health problems including heart or bone diseases. It is very hard to obtain the necessary quantity from foods and so we must turn to supplements.

So, in order to get rid of cellulite all you have to do is add to your daily diet foods that contain lecithin, antioxidants, minerals, essential fatty acids and the necessary food supplements for your body. By doing so you will get rid of cellulite in just eight weeks, Dr. Murad promises.
