A few fresh mint or sage leaves help whiten the teeth when chewed daily and also prevent and treat gingivitis. Together with mint, sage can be used in infusions for reducing mouth inflammations and gum bleeding. A s well as mint, sage leaves have disinfectant, astringent and calming properties. Infusion is made from two teaspoons per 100ml hot water and is used for gargling a few times a day. Specialists advise not to use sage in longtime cures as it can irritate ral cavity and can be toxic.
