The beneficial effect is due to the contained polyphenols and antioxidants. Polyphenols slow down the removal of nitric oxide from the blood, high nitric oxide levels in the blood increasing blood flow and decreasing blood pressure and blood clotting.

Champagne is the combination of two red grape varieties, pinot noir and pinot meunier, together with chardonnay variety, harvested from French champagne vineyards. Sparkling wines produced in other parts of the world that do not respect the glass bottle fermentation are obtained by carbon dioxide addition. Being very effervescent those sparkling wines may have side effects as headaches, dehydration and fatigue.
